Foundation for Ohio Guard and Reserve
The National Guard and Reserve cannot accomplish their mission without the full support of their employers and families.
BACKGROUND.
With the transition of the National Guard and Reserve from a Strategic Reserve to an Operational Reserve, greater demands have been placed upon them.

Since September 11, 2001 more than 800,000 men and women have left their families and employers to serve on active duty in the war against terrorism. Of the 29,000+ National Guardsmen and Reservists in Ohio, approximately 26,000 have deployed away from their families and places of business during this time.

The Guard and Reserve comprise 48% of our total available military manpower. Working side-by-side with their active duty counterparts, our Guard and Reserve members support a demanding operational and training tempo to maintain their mission capabilities.

Under current operating conditions, our Active Duty forces are stretched thin by fighting multiple conflicts across the world. These Active Duty forces cannot accomplish their missions without the full support of the National Guard and Reserve. The National Guard and Reserve cannot accomplish their mission without the full support of their employers and families.

Clearly, a need exists to recognize and support both the employers and families of our service members by supporting and recognizing their contributions to our Nation's military community. This Foundation seeks to fill that need by raising funds to supplement existing Guard and Reserve employer and family programs.
